Disney Fashion: Hot Topic Finds Jan 2015
Jan 29

Got this cute Belle dress there for $22!
I don’t think it would shock anyone to know I shop at Hot Topic. Not that my style screams what you’d expect to find in there, but because, by looking at me and picturing me shopping at a Mall, well, where else could you see me walking in to?
The funny thing is, beside plugs and some retro-style dresses, I usually only go in there to buy Disney things. Did you know they have an entire section dedicated to it? You can find dresses, shirts, hair accessories, and bags galore! They have a variety of different styles, too. You can find princesses drawn in a more pin-up, tattooed style, AND characters done more on the classic side, depending on your tastes. They also have variety when it comes to clothing styles. They don’t only have classic fit t-shirts with characters that you are likely to find in the Disney parks, but they actually have uniquely patterned dresses and cutesy, stylish trends as well.
The prices aren’t half bad either. You could throw together an entire Disney-themed outfit there for under $100. The biggest reason for this is because, much like Kohl’s, not only is everything in the store always individually marked down, but there’s also usually an overall sale, like buy 1 get 1 for $1 or everything is 10 % off.
Let’s go crazy and make an outfit completely The Little Mermaid themed. So, here is a dress, bag, shoes, jewelry, and hair accessories all for under $100.
The dress:
I like this one because it’s subtle from afar, then up close you realize how utterly adorable it is – $27.60
The shoes:
Let’s go with combat boots here. They have Ariel slip ons too, but these combat boots make combat boots 324067 times cooler: $40
The hair:
You’ve got to add a bow here. I actually highly recommend checking out hair bows on Etsy.com instead of buying one here because there are a lot of sellers on there doing really unique stuff at similar prices! $5.20
The necklace:
Kiss the girl necklace – $8.40
The bag:
This bag is great for the parks; over the shoulder and big enough to fit a bunch of stuff. Hot Topic even has some awesome backpacks (one of which I have and is Ariel themed, but it is sold out!) So, here’s this Ariel hobo-bag instead! – $18.00
So all that for $99! And like I said, there’s usually a sale going on, so you could probably even add in these tights for $11.60 and still be just under $100!
What do you think? Did you know Hot Topic had things like this? I would love to read what you have to say in the comments below!

Tweets on Tuesday: Favorite World Showcase Pavilion?
Jan 27
Epcot’s World Showcase at Walt Disney World has to be my favorite area of that whole resort. It’s such a gorgeously well done area. If you are unfamiliar, World Showcase is a set of 11 pavilions representing countries from around the world. It sits along a promenade and a lake. Each pavilion is designed to look like that country with it’s architecture, food, shops, attractions. Cast members that work in these pavilions are even from the countries they are representing. With that being said, this coming Modern Mouse Radio show has to do with imagining a new country pavilion for World Showcase so I thought, “What does everyone else like about World Showcase?” I put the question out there to Twitter asking what your favorite World Showcase pavilion and why? These are the answers I got from Twitter this week.
: England. I like the food, the beer, the shops, and the British Revolution. The courtyard is a nice space. And Alice! Technically it’s the United Kingdom. Last time I was here I met a woman from Wales and she was avid about me knowing that this wasn’t just an English pavilion. I’m not too keen on the food but I’ve only really stopped in for a pint at the Rose and Crown around noon. I hear it’s a killer place to be at night. I will agree that the music in this pavilion is some of the best. The courtyard is beautiful and of course Alice and Mary Poppins make frequent appearances here!
: I love me some China Pavilion. The food, that garden area, and I can buy a katana. Similar to United Kingdom, the gardens of China are wonderful to relax in. I’m not as apprecative of the food here but I think that is based on the fact that I feel I can get similar Chinese food anywhere and it’s not exotic enough here. You can buy some cool weaponry here but I don’t suggest it if you are flying. Airport security will give you weird looks.
: Mexico. Have always loved going in a pavilion and feeling like I’m outside. Mexico is unique because it’s indoor marketplace sits “below the stars of the night sky” and that’s a fun experience in the middle of the day. Be aware you will be temporarily in pain when you walk back out into the sunlight though. You’ll be able to meet Donald in his sombrero, Panchito, and Jose here. I’m cool with anything Jose guys!
: I thought about this for a while. My best memories all involve the U.K. Love watching the band. Love the pub. Love the maze. Apparently many people really enjoy the Rose and Crown pub and the British Revolution band. Beyond this, U.K. has some cool shopping, especially if your into futbol (soccer)!
: Japan. I lived there for three years – the food, the sites, the smells all take me back. One of the best parts of World Showcase is that the countries around the lake are as authentic as possible. Many of the cast members that work in the pavilions do say that they remind them of home. I always wondered if visiting a pavilion would bring back great memories from international trips. Now I know.
: Oh this is tough. I’m gonna go with Britain narrowly edging out France b/c….Carl. #halfbasshalfstellacureswhatailsyou No Way! I know Carl and his drink “The Carl” is in fact a half Bass half Stella beer cocktail. It’s not my favorite beer cocktail as I’m more a snakebite (half Cider half Guinness) but I digress! Love Carl and he made my experience the last time I was at the Rose and Crown.
: Japan! Can’t beat the food and Mitsukoshi Department Store. How could I forget about the store? I’ve spent hours at the Mitsukoshi Department Store. It’s easy to get lost in all of the great gifts. If you don’t have any affection toward Japanese culture, spend some time in that store and you will. I also ate at Teppan Edo last time I was at Epcot and I will state that the food is really fantastic.
: Mexico. The interior transports you to a different place. The attraction is classic. Beyond the beautiful night sky setting, the former Rio del Tiempo, and now The Gran Fiesta Tour, is the only ride through attraction (at least for a while) at Epcot’s World Showcase. What makes it fun is the “Small World” style boat ride as well as the cameos from Panchito, Donald, and Jose. I mean it’s Jose guys!
Leave your answers below! What’s your favorite World Showcase pavilion? What country would you like to see be added to World Showcase? If you want to be a part of next week’s post, follow me on Twitter. Click the link below to follow me.

Hello Disney Brides! I put together this video which is kind of an all inclusive haul of what I bought to wear on my wedding day and what I’m planning on doing on that day to get ready! I tried to include as many links as I could in the info of the video on Youtube to what I actually bought, so you can go to the actual video there to see! It’s all done on a budget, of course, so I hope it helps all my other fellow Disney Brides, or just any brides in general!

Tweets on Tuesday: Would you live in Walt’s EPCOT?
Jan 21
Josh has been talking and talking and talking and talking and ta… about EPCOT a lot lately. Like, seriously, SO MUCH. For realsies, he just did a podcast about it with Keith Gluck (from www.TheDisneyProject.com), posted a YouTube video about it here, and now he’s trying to drag everyone else on Twitter down with him by asking you to talk about it too with his question this week “Would you live in Walt’s EPCOT/City of tomorrow and why?” Really Josh? Really? Haven’t we heard about this enough already? Well, maybe I am the only one who feels this way, because some of you lovely people gladly responded, or maybe you were just humoring him. But, I am being sucked in too now, because I’m being FORCED to do this post because Josh can’t, something about he needs to sleep so he can get some rest for his 14 hour work day tomorrow blah blah blah. Anyway, here are my responses to your responses to his EPCOT crazing.
In case you skipped the intro, the question this week on ’s Twitter was: Would you live in Walt’s EPCOT/City of tomorrow and why?
– No. Such a Utopian society would require rules so stringent I wouldn’t want to live there. I would actually love to live there, but at the same time, I agree with you. It sort of reminds me of people that live in neighborhoods with HOA and can’t do things like let their lawn grow too high for a week because they don’t feel like mowing all the time or paint their houses certain non-approved colors. It’s kind of weird to think of being an adult and not being able to make certain choices about your own living situation, never mind not having the option of being able to even own your own home if you wanted. I mean, what if I LIKE retro-style stoves and furniture?! Well, it probably wouldn’t be allowed! I wonder if there would be a curfew, too, and weird rules about where you can and cannot walk your dog! Anything that makes me feel as though anyone else thinks my dog is not human makes me opposed to it (hehe!).
– No, I think it would be like Stepford Wives. Ahhh yeah! Creepy thought! *Said in robot-ish voice*: “I am here to cheerfully install your new flat screen television.” Oh, wait, maybe that wouldn’t be so bad…. hehe. No, but really, it does sort of seem that way, at first thought, anyway. I would hope they would work out some system where the things that are “perfect” are the things that sort of need to be, like trash/recycling maintenance, less wear and tear on the environment, and cost of living expenses. Plus, I would hope that everyone would treat each other nicely (like Stepford Wives do) because of the pure fact that they are a community of people working together as such, and not so much because they are forced to watch some bizarre customer service with a smile training video and have it downloaded into their brains. (But I would hope that other “micro-managing” fears and fake-smiles would be smoothed out over time, like people coming together and decide they collectively don’t like conforming to certain practices, and I think it would.) I mean, you have to imagine the type of people who would be up for living in a place like this; Disney people, right? We are generally an all around friendly crowd, naturally, right? That could be something great!
– I’d live anywhere Disney. Having the world right there to visit all the time- brilliant. Yeah! Me too, honestly. If I had the choice of owning my own home and being able to do whatever I wanted with it, vs. living and working within the walls of my favorite place on Earth, I don’t think there would be much competition there. Of course, I wouldn’t be able to own my own business unless I decided to have 2 full time jobs, but I am sure I could still make it work!
@TheMouseSlap – If there is a union and can retire with a 25 yr of service pension plus housing and public transportation, sign me up. Seriously, I only hope that something like this was part of the plan, but Walt left this part of the deal off of the video promos he recorded for EPCOT. I can’t imagine they would force you to move out and kick you to the streets, or force you to keep working when you become of retirement age. Hey, hey, MAYBE if the plans were developed more and they actually moved into construction on his idea of EPCOT, there would have been a retirement community built next door with all of that deal you mentioned above coming with the whole package of living there! That would be a great idea! If anyone ever decides to build Walt’s Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, you and I can get together, write this down, and put this idea in a proposal! Then, maybe we can even live there completely free for coming up with it!
@PixieDustDaily –No, I’ve already lived through the 80s. I am just going to add in a “wakka wakka” here, because it wont let me copy and paste that smiley face with the tongue sticking out you added at the end! hehe! I know you are making a joke, but for anyone else reading, I just want to mention that living in Walt’s EPCOT would mean you got to live with appliances, technology, etc. of the future, and, at the time the promos came out, that meant basically what you might see of technology of the 80s. If this version of EPCOT were actually built, they would of course update things every year, so at this point in 2015 if Walt’s idea of EPCOT were around, we might be living in something resembling more closely to the world of 2030! But, to be fair, Josh was totally asking for this clever answer with the phrasing he used, and for that I say, “Bravo.” Together we can all rise up and make fun of Josh collectively, and that will be our even better version of EPCOT.
I poke fun at Josh way more than a fiance should. Or maybe it’s the appropriate amount. Or not enough? Should I poke more fun at Josh? Probably more, let’s say more. But for now, at the end of this article, I will stop, and I will support him is his obvious obsession with the Disney history side of Walt’s EPCOT. And in saying that, I will say, aka type, that you should check out the other stuff that Josh has been posting about EPCOT, because it truly is an amazing concept. I will also say, type, that I wish there was a keyboard key for the whole word EPCOT, because I think I just typed it 3,561 times. Even if you would never want to live in a community like EPCOT, it’s still fun to imagine the way of life you might experience if you did. And with that, I will end this article with a couple links to other EPCOT history posts Josh has done, and I would like to re-ask all of you:
Would you live in Walt’s EPCOT/City of tomorrow and why? Please leave your answers in the comments section below!
